Minister of State for External Affairs Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh visited Santiago, Chile, to represent the Government of India at the Presidential Inauguration Ceremony of President-Elect Mr. José Antonio Kast Rist. During the visit, the Minister met the President-Elect and conveyed warm greetings from the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu and the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi. The interaction reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening India-Chile bilateral relations, particularly in areas such as trade, investment, critical minerals, clean energy and innovation.

The Embassy of India, Santiago celebrated the 77th Republic Day of India on 26 January 2026 at the Embassy premises with great enthusiasm and pride. Ambassador Ms. Abhilasha Joshi, along with Embassy officials and their families, was joined by members of the Indian diaspora in Chile and friends of India, creating a truly warm and festive gathering. The celebrations began with the unfurling of the National Flag, followed by the soulful singing of the National Anthem by all attendees. Ambassador Joshi then read out the Hon�ble President of India�s Address to the Nation, and shared highlights of the past year that saw a tremendous upturn in India-Chile relations, strengthening cooperation and people to people ties. An engaging exhibition showcasing Indian tourism, diverse States of India, Ayurveda and wellness traditions, and Khadi added a vibrant cultural touch. Patriotic songs played throughout the event, which concluded with Indian refreshments, fostering a joyful Republic Day spirit. Jai Hind!.

On 14 August 2025, the Embassy of India, Santiago hosted a grand reception to mark the 79th Independence Day of India. The event was honoured by the presence of H.E. Alberto van Klaveren, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile, as the Chief Guest, alongside H.E. Esteban Valenzuela, Minister of Agriculture and Ms. Claudia Sanhueza, Undersecretary of International Economic Relations. More than 200 distinguished guests, including senior Chilean officials, senators, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, academics, Indian diaspora and friends of India in Chile, joined the celebrations.
