PROFILE OF AMBASSADOR ABHILASHA JOSHI
Mrs. Abhilasha Joshi joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1995 after completing post-graduation in M.A. (Psychology) from the University of Delhi.
Her first assignment abroad was at the Embassy of India, Lisbon in 1998 after which she returned to New Delhi and was posted as Under Secretary (Sri Lanka) and Deputy Secretary (SAARC) in Headquarters. She has served as Regional Passport Officer in Visakhapatnam and later posted to Consulate General of India, Sao Paulo, Brazil as Consul (Commerce) from 2008 till 2012. Thereafter she held the post of Deputy Director General at the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.
Mrs. Abhilasha Joshi returned to Brazil as the Consul General of India in Sao Paulo, from 2014 to 2017 and subsequently served as the Consul General of India in Vancouver, Canada from 2017-2020.
Mrs Joshi looked after the work of Development Partnership Administration (DPA-II & IV) in capacity building and heritage conservation from October 2020 before being posted as India’s Ambassador to the Republic of Chile.
She has assumed charge as Ambassador of India in Chile on 1 June 2024.
She is married to Mr. Nitin Joshi and has one daughter and one son.
Mrs. Joshi speaks Hindi, English and Portuguese.
