Today we celebrate National Unity Day in memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary.  As India's first Home Minister, Sardar Patel was the moving force behind the unification of the princely states into the Republic of India. On this occasion the world's largest statue, the Statue of Unity, was unveiled in Gujarat by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
